Description

An Excellent Example of Authentic Quality Canadian First Nations Indigenous Art.

For sale are seven Northwest Coast cedar carved miniature totems. Totem poles are considered the very symbol of NWC native people and their art.

The largest pieces represents 3 watchmen with 4 skills on top. In the Haida tradition, the watchmen on top are the guardians responsible for protecting the poles`s owners property and sometimes the owners village and out to sea, hence they are facing all directions.  The skills on top indicate the importance and status of the chief whose house they guard.

The other depictions are bear, eagle, raven, and frog.

All totems have the artists name etched on the base and the watchman is dated 2012 and the bear on a platform is dated 2009.

The carving is meticulous for small totems which indicate the carver`s skill.

It is signed ‘Leon Ridley’ who is from the Haida tribe.

They range in size from 2 1/2″ – 4 1/4″ and all are in excellent condition.

This assemblage of 7 miniature totems would be a fabulous addition to any Northwest Coast art collection.

I have been selling AUTHENTIC Northwest Coast Art on line since 1999 so buy with confidence.
