For sale is a Northwest Coast Haida cedar panel with extensive carving.
The Haida People are known for their large scale construction of long houses and in the building of their canoes.
On the reverse is written ” Haida Grandfather Thunderbird 240 hours”: The initial LH are carved on the back.
The carving has images of thunderbird, several faces, and a frog. The panel also has many carved Northwest Coast design elements such a U forms, split U forms, and ovoid forms common in Haida art. The panel is adorned with 5 pieces of abalone shell which has a colorful iridescent lining.
This exceptional carved panel is 36 W X 18 H X 1 D and in very good condition with very minor wear. Any variation is wood shade is an aspect of the natural wood.
