Description

For sale is a Northwest Coast Native American carving of a bowl in a rare wolf motif.
This fabulous wolf bowl was created and signed by Master Kwakuitl Carver Ray Wadhams from Alert Bay, Vancouver Island, B.C.
In NWC culture, bowls were used in potlatch feasts where lavish dishes were used.  Many bowls were visual expressions of wealth and abundance.
The wolf is respected for its strength, agility, intelligence and capacity for devotion. The wolf can also be an agent of transformation and is a popular figure in crest, story, ad shamanic art.
I would estimate this cedar bowl is from the mid 20th c.
Written on the base “Ray Wadhams wolf Bowl Kwakiutl”.
The measurements are 14″ L X 4″ W X 6″ H.
I have been selling authentic Northwest Coast Art on line since 1999 so buy with confidence.
