Description

For sale is an ORIGINAL acrylic on paper by Canadian Native artist Norval Morrisseau (1932-2007) of a bear. This original is signed Copper Thunderbird in Cree syllabics and is likely circa early 1980s.

This painting is one of his earlier works on paper and it is interesting to see how the artist evolved over the years.  Norval Morrisseau, considered Canada`s most acclaimed native artist, is from the Anishnaabe People from the Ojibway Reserve in Ontario. In 1969 The French dubbed him the Picasso of the north.  He founded the Woodlands style of art known for bright colors and thick black lines.  His art is collected and exhibited internationally and he has been honored and recognized many times, one being appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 1978.
A certificate of authenticity is provided with purchase.
The image size is 23 1/2″ X 23 ½” (32 X 32 inches including frame).
I have been selling authentic native art online since 1999 so buy with confidence.
