Description

For sale is a Native American Navajo Ketoh also known as a bow or wrist guard.
This piece has five turquoise stones set in beautiful designed respousse silver on leather hide with three silver conchos on each side.
Navajo archers wore these when hunting or at war to protect their wrists from the bowstring. Silversmiths began to decorate ketohs with silver plaques late in the nineteenth century, when they became more decorative than functional.
Ketohs are very difficult to acquire as these objects are passed down and were not made for the tourist market.
The silver is 4 X 3 inches and in good used condition.
I have been selling native art on line since 1999 so buy with confidence.
Thank you for looking and please follow my store as new objects are added often.
