Description

For sale is a Northwest Coast carved and painted cedar loon bowl.
Loon is a main theme in NWC art and mythology.
Loon is known for its unique and often haunting voice and is knowledge of various realms.
Bowls are used in Potlatch ceremonies to feed guests.
From the tip of the nose to the tail is 22 ” long X 9 inches high 6 inches wide.
It is signed Bill Wilson Kwakiutl Loon Dish 1986″.
 Bill Wilson (1944-), native name Hemas Kla-Lee-Lee-Kla is from the Kwagiulth tribe. Bill is a hereditary chief, politician, administrator and artist. His mother was the eldest child of a hereditary chief who was also a hamatsa, a position of very high stature in Kwagiulth culture.
